Jennifer Hines is an award-winning news anchor who currently works for the KLTV News station, where she anchors the East Texas News at 4, East Texas News at 5, and East Texas News MidDay segments.
Education
Jennifer is a life-long Texan who attended the University of Texas from 1996 to 2000. She fell in love with the school after touring the campus with her best friend her senior year of high school. Jennifer graduated from UT Austin with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Business.
While in college, Jennifer was actively involved in her sorority and Texas Student Media. She became a member of the Tri Delta sorority the first semester of her freshman year, and was the Vice President of Recruitment her senior year. She lived in the Tri Delta house her junior and senior years. Jennifer also worked for KVRX, the campus student-run radio station, and Texas Student Television, the student-run television station that produced weekly segments.
Career
After graduating from the University of Texas, Jennifer moved to Abeline, Texas, where she was a news anchor and reporter for Ktxs. After working in Abeline from November 2000 to March 2003, Jennifer moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she worked at News 9 San Antonio. While there, she was a reporter and fill-in anchor.
After working at News 9 San Antonio for a year, Jennifer moved back to Austin where she worked at News 8 Austin. She was a news anchor and reporter in the Austin area for over three years. While working in Austin, Jennifer was a member of a team that was selected by the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication as winners of a Regional Edward R. Murrow award for Best Continuing Coverage. She also won a Walter Cronkite award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism.
Jennifer moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, after working in Austin.
While at Corpus Christi, she worked as a news anchor for KRIS Communications.
She won a Best Feature award for her story on Central Catholic Elementary's chess team.
After working in Corpus Christi for over two years, Jennifer moved to Tyler, Texas, where she has worked at KLTV for the past eight years as one of the head news anchors.
Personal
While living in Abeline, Texas, Jennifer met her husband Spencer through a mutual friend.
They got married while living in Corpus Christi, Texas, and currently have three daughters.
The Hines family attends Marvin Methodist Church and enjoys seeing all that Tyler, Texas, has to offer.
Jennifer values volunteer service, and volunteers locally whenever she can.
She serves on the board of Meals on Wheels and volunteers for the American Cancer Society. She also volunteers for several other organizations including the American Heart Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Junior League of Tyler, Tyler Rose Festival, Tyler Film Festival, and Leadership Tyler.
