Herrera was born in South Florida and she spent a major part of her growing up there. She currently married has two daughters together with her husband .[10]
Education
Jen Herrera attended and graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Mass media and a minor in English. She is also fluent in Spanish. [13]
Career
The South Florida native started out in her chosen career path to be a Television presenter at an early age of 18, having her first foray when she joined the WPLG family as an intern immediately after her graduation from secondary school. This would go on to create an undying passion in her as she immediately fell in love with the business, taking it as a path for her career pursuit. Later on, she was employed as a general assignment reporter in May 2003.
In October 2003, she took her first official stride in broadcasting as she joined the morning news team becoming the station's first traffic anchor. Working here she had a duty of keeping an eye on the roads for South Florida drivers, Jen continued to cover news stories as well. Later on she moved to anchor the WPLG News at Noon, the Local 10 Morning News on Saturday and Sunday, and later the Local 10 Evening News on Saturday and Sunday.
One of her early career great highlights came in March 2012, when she traveled to Cuba along with Calvin Hughes to cover Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the communist island. They were privileged to be the only representatives of South Florida anchors granted access into the country for the historical visit. [11]
In April 2018 Jen Herrera joined NBC where she is currently employed and co-hosts NBC's "6 in the Mix" with Johanna Gomez. Prior to joining the NBC she has garnered more than 15 years of journalistic experience working in South Florida for the following; WPLG as a news anchor and several other stations newscast during her 11 year job stint.
She earned her first Emmy Award Nomination all credit to Her work at Cirque Du Soilel headquarters in Montreal, Canada, Not too long later her second came when she was opportuned to be one of only two South Florida journalists who reported Pope Benedict XVI’s historic visit for local audiences live from Havana, Cuba.
Jen Herrera also anchors WPLG Morning News with Jason Martinez.
Other Activities
Jen is also actively involved with several organizations she considers of great value,some of which are; Autism Speaks and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

While not at work, Jen loves spending time at home with her husband and two daughters.
