Jasmine Rand is an attorney and legal counsel known for representing the families of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown.

Jasmine Rand was born and raised in Plainfield, Vermont. She is the fifth generation in her family to have been raised in the small town community.

Growing up she was a straight A student with an immaculate record in Academia. She attended Twinfield High School.

Her grandparents helped her immensely by sacrificing a lot in order to ensure she would make it through college.

She was their main focus.

Jasmine received her BA degree in African American Studies and Political science and a minor in Spanish from University of Georgia.

She then attended Florida State University School of Law where she received her Juris doctorate degree. She earned her membership on the Mock Trial Team and the Business Review Journal. Jasmine Rand credits her success to her grandparents Ernest and Beverly Gray, for the sacrifices they made for her education

My grandparents sacrificed financially to ensure that I got an education and made it through college.

I was their primary focus and because of their sacrifice, I was the first person in my family able to obtain a college degree.

Rand is an attorney with Parks & Crump, L.L.C., Jasmine Rand manages the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office and is head of its Civil Rights Division.

Known for her representation of the Trayvon Martin family, Rand excels in the civil rights arena, has posted multimillion dollar recoveries in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases, and is currently involved in police brutality cases throughout the nation from the LAPD to the NYPD.

In 2012 Rand received the Lawyers’ Committee For Civil Rights Under Law’s, national Distinguished Civil Rights Advocate Award, “For fulfilling the legal profession’s highest ideal in advancing equal justice for all.”

In addition to her dynamic legal practice, Rand taught Legal Problems of the Poor at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, lectured at a law school in Morocco.

Utilizing media to bring attention to civil rights issues, Rand has been featured as a legal analyst on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox, on shows such as, Nancy Grace, the O’Reilly Factor, Hard Ball with Chris Mathews, Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien, and has appeared in Spanish on Telemundo.

An active member of the National Bar Association, Rand was recently appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to its President-Elect, served as the Young Lawyers Division 2012 Community Service Chair, and received a Presidential Award.

In 2012 Rand founded a summer internship program with the NBA Young Lawyers Division to help combat unemployment and provide African American law students with job opportunities; the inaugural class placed nearly forty students in paid positions.

Most recently, the National Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law founded by President Kennedy, invited Rand to help establish its Young Lawyers’ Committee in honor of its 50th Anniversary.

Currently, Rand is developing a pilot program, I and I, aimed at providing primary education to children in need in Kingston, Jamaica.

Rand worked for Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s litigation department in Atlanta, Georgia, and for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Immigrant Justice Project on human trafficking cases and immigrant justice issues.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, she simultaneously earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in African American Studies and one in Political Science, and a Spanish minor.

She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Florida State University College of Law, where she earned membership on the Mock Trial Team and the Business Review Journal.

Rand is admitted to practice in the state of Florida, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida.
