Janelle Burrell is an American journalist and news anchor who was born and brought up in Brooklyn, New York, United States. She anchors Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon along with Jim Donovan on Philadelphia’s KYW-TV (CBS 3).[1][4]

Janelle Burrell was born (on 1983) and brought up in Brooklyn, New York, United States.[2]
She was born to Yhavier M. Burrell and Lloyd G. Burrell Jr. of Poughkeepsie, New York. Her father is a mechanical engineer who specializes in semiconductor processes. He works at GlobalFoundries, a maker of semiconductors in East Fishkill, N.Y. while Burrell’s mother is a registered nurse at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.[3]
Education
Janelle is an alumna of Pennsylvania State University where she enrolled after completing High school. While in university she majored in English and minored in Biology.
It was when she was in the university that she got her first taste of broadcasting, as an intern at WPSU-TV, the PBS station serving Central Pennsylvania. She later joined the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism where she graduated with a master’s degree in Broadcast journalism.
While attending college, she worked as a freelance reporter for Brooklyn Independent Television.
Career
Janelle Burrell joined KYW-TV (CBS 3) on April 16, 2019, as a replacement for Rachel Solomon. She anchors Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon along with Jim Donovan.[5]
Prior to joining CBS 3, Janelle worked as a general assignment reporter and anchor for WCBS-TV in New York City, joining the station in 2013. she was also a part of the anchor team that helped launch the station’s digital channel, CBSN New York.
On WCBS-TV, Janelle contributed to the news team’s coverage of major events including the Pope’s visit to New York, the 2014 Super Bowl, and the terrorist truck attack on Manhattan’s West Side.
Janelle also broke an exclusive investigation into an alleged cover-up within New York City’s public housing system.
She also has worked as a reporter at News 12 Westchester and Time Warner Cable News Binghamton, New York.

Marital Life
Janelle Burrell met her husband, Derricke Dennis, in July 2010 at a journalism convention in San Diego. Derricke Dennis is a national morning radio news anchor in New York with Fox News Headlines 24/7, a satellite radio channel on SiriusXM. He is a graduate of Howard University.
The couple got married on October 30, 2015, when she was aged 32 years and the groom was aged 41 years.
The wedding took place at the Liberty House, an events space in Liberty State Park in Jersey City. The Rev. Keith C. Treadwell, a Baptist minister, officiated the ceremony.
Trivia
In her free time, Janelle loves working with the next generation of journalists.
She spends time as an adjunct assistant professor at her alma mater.
She loves exploring Philly’s great food scene and she is very excited to call Philly home.
