Jane Timken is a lawyer and Republican Party activist in Ohio.
In January 2017, she was named the Republican Party Chair of Ohio.
[0]She is the first woman to head Ohio's Republican Party.
Timken was vice chairman of the Stark County GOP.
[0]She is a supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and was selected over Kasich's ally and choice of candidate for the post, Matt Borges.
Timken helped raise $1 million for the Trump campaign and was favored by party activists who accused Borges of not showing strong enough support for Mr. Trump.
The 66-member committee that governs the state party voted twice in the morning 33 for Mrs. Timken and 32 for Mr. Borges.
One member was absent due to illness.
After a recess, Mr. Borges withdrew.
He was elected chairman emeritus and given an ovation.
[0]T he state committee, made up of one woman and one man from each of Ohio’s 33 Senate districts, met at the Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center just north of Columbus.
She said: “We came very close to a disastrous Hillary Clinton presidency We cannot afford a chairman that picks and chooses which candidates get support.”
She has two children.
