On Tuesday the 13th of December, 2016 at around 12:45 p.m., at the Red Line Metro stop in Hollywood and Vine, James sucker punch a homeless man. There appears to have been an altercation between the two as when the video starts, the old man appears to be fending off James by saying something related to racism in his wording. ^[undefined]

As soon as the old man turns around to pick up his bag, which was kicked away by another man, James walks up behind him and delivers a punch across his head.

The old man landed hard on the ground almost falling over into the railing.

Authorities were called to the scene.

The conducted an investigation that lasted a day after making interviews.

They also questioned the camera man who posted the video online.

Authorities said media coverage also led to many tips regarding the possible identity of the suspect.

Detectives followed up on these leads, including the one that led them to Hanson.

He has been booked at the Sheriff’s Century Regional Detention Facility for assault with a deadly weapon (hands and feet) likely to produce great bodily injury.

He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
