James Michael Bowden is an American resident of Dardanelle, Arkansas. ^[1]

James Michael Bowden is attended Russellville High School (Arkansas). ^[1] Bowden has mental problems, and is in a relationship with a woman named Haley. ^[1]

James is also a father with two sons and a daughter.

On May 11, 2017, Bowden killed two women at a home in Dardanelle, Arkansas and then fatally shot a Yell County Sheriff’s Department deputy, Lieutenant Kevin Mainhart, before barricading himself inside a home in Dardanelle for several hours.

Just after 7:00 a.m. local time, Lieutenant Kevin Mainhart was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of State Highway 27 and Slow Fork Road near Chickalah in Yell County.

Mainhart was on his way to a domestic disturbance call on Gum Springs Road, not far from the traffic stop.

Two bodies, both females, were found at the Gum Springs Road home.

Bowden held hostages in a standoff with police for several hours at another residence nearby. He let one female hostage go during the standoff and she is being questioned.

He was taken into custody at about 2:45 p.m. local time.

Bowden faces three counts of capital murder.
