Jalinda Campbell was a student at Southern Middle School and lived in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

On October 28, 2016, Campbell was sitting on the porch with her 3 year old nephew outside their duplex apartment at about 4 p.m. when someone drove up and began firing.

On Sunday October 30, 2016, Montice Tyree McManus, 16 years old from Southern Pines, North Carolina and Malik Rashad Crawford were arrested and charged.
