From his childhood in Anguilla where he sang and learned to play guitar, to living in the South Bronx Jahmings Maccow has been creating music that is on the same level as the Reggae greats that came before him.

After collaborating with bands in the 80’s like Catch-A-Fire and The Enforcers in New York, he became a force to be reckoned with.

In the 90’s he moved to Los Angeles to broaden his sound.

As the years have gone by, Jahmings Maccow has infused reggae with blues and rock effortlessly.

Now he is back with the exceptional EP, I. Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) -- Reggae musician Jahmings Maccow instructs listeners on how to soothe their tortured souls with his new DVD "Free the Pain."

It features the video for the first single by the same title from his latest album, Man Redemption.

Vintage reggae at its best, Maccow melodically beckons his listeners to release whatever pain has been attacking their spirit.

The "Free the Pain" video was filmed in his current home of Los Angeles, California and was directed by Salvatore Sebergandio.

Anguila expat Jahmings Maccow, formerly of New York roots legends Catch-A-Fire and the Enforcers, writes catchy, Bob Marley-influenced roots reggae songs that would have been right at home on Jamaican radio back in the late 70s.

Fans of golden-era reggae singers like Gregory Isaacs, Johnny Clarke, Sugar Minott or Jacob Miller will love this album: if Rockers TV was still in syndication, you would no doubt see “The Rootsman” interviewing Maccow with much enthusiasm.

The production here is far more oldschool than most anything coming out of Jamaica right now, a fat riddim with real keyboards and layers of guitar.

Maccow is not only a good songwriter, he’s also a good guitarist, spicing his songs with an incisive yet tersely soulful, pensive edge.

The Marley inspiration extends especially to the vocals, Maccow reaching up to the high registers with the same kind of inspired half-yelp.

The tunes mix slow anthems in with the upbeat, hitworthy stuff.

In keeping with the classic roots vibe, the lyrics address both spiritual and contemporary issues, hence the album title, Man Redemption – a bunch of uplifting tunes that frequently address some pretty heavy issues.

MUSICIAN/Singer/Songwriter Jahmings Maccow CD was released on August 10, 1999 on his own label, Liquid Cyber Records, including the new songs: Pay The Price, Check Me Out, Why and I Miss De Morning Star.

The CD contains all original materials written by Jahmings Maccow except Isn't This Love written by Paul Henton & Jahmings Maccow.

Since the release of his last single titled Yesterday by Buddy Raye on the Hollywood Sessions Album, Jahmings has been spending time writing, touring and putting together his studio in The San Fernando Valley, California, where most of the rhythm tracks on this CD were done.

The editing, over dubs and mastering, was done at Two Guys From the Valley Recording Studios.

The New Way CD was recorded over a period of thirteen to fifteen months from the winter of 1997 to the spring of 1999.

Jahmings, who does vocals, rhythm, lead, acoustic and bass guitars, keyboards and drums programming, is joined on the CD by Paul Henton (bass, keyboards and drums programming), Cesar Garcia (sax), Michael Bolger (trumpet), Maria Paul (violin), Carolyn Tenore (background vocals) and Tita Hutchison (background vocals).

The production was done by Jahmings Maccow with engineering done by Michael Wallace and Paul Henton.
