Jackie Cox (born April 10, 1985) is a social media personality and drag performer who is one of Season 12's contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Personal Life

Jackie Cox born as Darius Rose was born on April 10, 1985 in Canada. There's no information on Jackie’s family, background and education. He currently resides at New York City, New York.

With the help of his friend while he was in college, he created his drag name.

He has an aunt who name is unknown that was stopped from visiting him and his mom in 2015 due to the policies concerning people from Muslim countries not being allowed into America.

He had this to say in an interview:

“My family members not being allowed into this country was crazy to me.
My aunt who just visited here in 2015 was suddenly not allowed to come to visit my mom and me anymore, her sister.
I really thought that this was not a moment to hide anymore.
This is not a moment to pretend that you are not Middle Eastern, that this is not part of your life and that this isn’t affecting you."

I need to talk about it in my drag and make people see and have this visibility and not hide and not hide these characters away.

Career

Jackie started drag in 2015, He has appeared on a segment of “What Would You Do”, along with Monét X Change.

He has a passion for making people laugh even when it comes to making up a story about his stage name which he referred to as “no-innuendos-here-at-all stage name”

He also had this to say about his stage name:

“I don’t think I realized it had innuendo until like four years in.
My mind just wasn’t there, She’s a character, a Broadway girl….
I thought of her as that, not as a slut.
I guess it is kind of a slutty name.
I would offer hand jobs, but they’re covered in powder.”

He became a contestant of RuPaul's Drag Race on February 28, 2020. Jackie is the oldest queen to compete in the 12th season, followed by fellow contestant Brita who is 5 months younger than him.

Talking about Drag Race, Cox said,

“Some people see us [drag queens] as the clowns of the community, but I see us as spiritual guides.
We’re here to help heal the divisions, and comedy is a great way to do that,”

“We do talk about politics this season as well, but the focus is on us and our stories and our drag.
In seasons past, there’s been a lot of, I won’t say frivolous drama, but it’s less about that for us.
If and when drama may or may not arise, it’s coming out of the drag, it’s not just ‘I don’t like you.’”
