IV Jay

IV Jay (born 20/01/2002) is a American R&B Singer-songwriter who rose to fame performing covers and remixes on YouTube. Her YouTube channel, IV JAY, has over 138,000 subscribers and she is currently signed to Atlantic Records.

Early Life

IV Jay was born on 20th of January, 2020 in the United States and she grew up and reside in Houston, Texas. [6]

Career

She got her start on social media through various covers, but has major career aspirations, which are exuded in plain sight on soulful project opener "Superstar". She leveraged her social media savviness and soulful voice to land a deal with Atlantic Records.

In October 2018, IV Jay officially released her self-titled, four-track EP IV.

The ’90s R&B influence can be heard on songs like “Thirsty,” which samples Ginuwine’s “So Anxious,” and her down-to-earth vocal technique is on full display on “Understand.”

Her effortless, tomboyish style even echoes that of the late iconic singer and actress Aaliyah.

In the same year, she made a remix of Queen Naija's "Medicine" which scored the top spot on Soundcloud's New and Hot: R&B & Soul list in April of 2018. Her cover of Chris Brown's "Yo" also garnered over 50,000 views on Instagram. [3][4][5]

While social media is what put her on, IV Jay’s sound—both musical and socially-conscious—is what places her on a unique path. She breaks from recording to discuss her cultural heritage, the current impact Latinx artists are having on music, her writing process, and more. Without much probing, she also candidly speaks about the challenges women face and why time’s up for men in power.

Perhaps most impressive about the neophyte lies not in her talents, but her commitment to using her platform to spread girl power.

She founded an empowerment group for “S.I.C.K.

(Strong Intelligent, Confident, Kind)” young women that she calls her IV League initiative.

“As a girl growing up, there's always so much trauma and stuff you go through,” she states.

“It's time for women to take a stan ‘Cause we run the world.

Period.”

Social Media

Being a social media star, IV Jay has 487k subscribers on her Instagram page and 138k subscribers on her YouTube channel.[1][2]
