Background
Ward-Gatti Trilogy
Co-authors John J. Raspanti & Dennis Taylor
Intimate Warfare was written by Dennis Taylor and John J. Raspanti and was published in 2017. It can found on Amazon.com, at Barnes & Noble, and with other prominent booksellers. A new hardcover version of the book sold for $40.00 on Amazon.com in 2020. The book was published by Rowman & Litttlefield.
The book is forwarded by Ray Mancini. The photographs are provided by Dennis Mulholland. Virgil Hunter, trainer for Andre Ward, called the book "a great read". It is for sale on eBay and is listed under various prices on that website.
In Intimate Warfare, the authors describe three of Ward's and Gatti's matches, two of which were named The Ring (magazine) "Fight of the Year." Gatti held the World Boxing Council super lightweight world title in 2004 and 2005. He had been a featured boxer on HBO and pay per view telecasts for years. Gatti defended the WBC super lightweight world title against Leonard Doroftei and Jesse James Leija, before losing it to Floyd Mayweather. Ward began boxing professionally in 1985 but retired in 1991. He returned to boxing three years later and retired from the sport in 2003.
The Fighter
The Fighter Grossed 129 Million
The book was published six years after the release of the movie, The Fighter, which was based on the real-life events between the boxers and brothers Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund. The Fighter grossed 129 million dollars worldwide.[2] IMDb states on its website that it "is based on the story of Micky Ward, a fledgling boxer who tries to escape the shadow of his more famous but troubled older boxing brother and get his own shot at greatness." The movie was directed by David O. Russell and describes action that took place in Lowell, Massachusetts. The Ward-Gatti fights are not mentioned in the movie and the last boxing match featured in the film is Ward defeating Shea Neary in England in March 2000. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.[40]
High On Crack Street
Micky Ward and Eklund were featured in the HBO documentary, High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell. The documentary premiered in 1995 and it illustrated Eklund's drug addiction and the crime that was associated with it. The documentary also showed Eklund training Ward for a boxing comeback while in the throes of addiction. Dennis Taylor documents these events in the book.

Amazon Review
The following is a review from Amazon.com:
Boxing writers Taylor and Raspanti track the careers of Arturo 'Thunder' Gatti and 'Irish' Mickey Ward, whose three-fight saga brought them pugilistic glory and million-dollar paydays at terrible physical and psychic cost.
Gatti’s natural ability and movie-star good looks earned him titles that his recklessness, in and out of the ring, quickly overshadowed.Ward,
less talented, won acclaim for a relentless attacking style that made him a crowd favorite. Both
men’s careers were in decline when their first encounter riveted the fight world. Only
six years after their final battle, Gatti was found dead in a Brazilian motel room, apparently a suicide. Ward,
on the other hand, became a national celebrity with the film The Fighter, which was based on his tumultuous life in hardscrabble Lowell, Massachusetts, and received seven Oscar nominations. However, no amount of financial compensation could make up for his shattered hand, blurred vision, and damaged brain. The book covers familiar terrain, and the authors eagerly embrace venerable sports clichés of manly fortitude and undaunted heroism. Despite these shortcomings, their diligent research and insider feel for the sport result in an engaging overview of two very different paths toward three of boxing’s best-known fights. Raspanti and Taylor’s most impressive accomplishment is to humanize the shirtless icons of pay-perview, making the bloody drama of the ring even more difficult to watch and the fighters even more admirable.
