Illicit Desire (風流韻事) is a 1973 Hong Kong three-part anthology erotic comedy / drama film written and directed by Li Han-hsiang. The film was produced by Runme Shaw for Shaw Brothers.[1]

Summary

Part 1: Unique Writing - "Lan Ting Card"

Hsiao I, a government official, is tasked by the Emperor to obtain the "Orchid Pavilion Preface", a famous piece of calligraphy art.

He uses trickery and deception in an effort to obtain the artwork from the owner, Monk Pien Tsai.

Production and release

Illicit Desire was shot on 35mm color film with a mono audio soundtrack featuring Mandarin dialogue. The Shawscope cinematographic process was used in production and the film's total runtime is 100 minutes. The film premiered on 4 August 1973 in Hong Kong.[2]
