Ian MacPherson
Ian MacPherson is a resident of Manchester, New Hampshire who is believed to be mentally ill. He works in waste management and is a graduate of Merrimack High School - Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Allegations
On May 13, 2016 MacPherson was arrested after shooting and wounding two Manchester police officers in a series of events that closed schools and forced residents on the west side of the city to shelter in place.
Both officers are expected to survive.
MacPherson was charged with two counts of attempted capital murder and could face life in prison.
Manchester Shooting
MacPherson was first spotted by officer Ryan Hardy at 2:03 a.m. while walking on Second Street near Ferry Street. Hardy approached MacPherson, who matched the description of a suspect who had robbed a Shell gas station the night before, and MacPherson began firing.
MacPherson was then spotted about a mile away, on Rimmon Street near Putnam Street and exchanged gunfire with officers again, wounding officer Matthew O'Connor in the leg.
MacPherson was later was taken into custody at 6:55 a.m.
Ian was previously arrested for assault in 2012.
