Schwarz graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in journalism.

Prior to joining CNN, Schwarz was a reporter for the Independent Journal Review, Washington Post, BuzzFeed and the The Deseret News.

Before covering politics in Washington, Schwarz was based in Los Angeles, California where he reported on the entertainment industry, celebrities, and the politics and policy of Hollywood.
