2016 Hot Air Balloon Crash in Lockhart, Texas
On July 30th, 2016, in the United States of America, a hot air balloon traveling across 30 miles from Austin, Texas crashed near the town of Lockhart.
The ride occurred early in the morning and the time of the crash is reported to have been 7:40 AM on 700 Block on Jolly Road.
[12]The balloon was carrying 16 and investigators have said that it struck power lines that ignited the rest of the balloon and set the basket on fire.
[9]It has been confirmed that all 16 people that was carried in the Hot air balloon, died.
The balloon was piloted by the experienced, Skip Nichols.
[3]The company of the balloon is Heart of Texas Hot Air Balloon Rides - they offer services in the Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas and each flight can carry up to 24 people.
At the moment, the National Transportation Safety & Board is leading the investigation.
