In December of 2016, Shen posted in the Cult of Kek Facebook group that his best friend/crush of 7 years, Shannon Kearns, ditched him for a Drug dealer boyfriend. He pleaded with members of the group to praise Kek and use Meme Magic to bring her back to him.

After the post, Hong Shen became a huge meme within the Cult of Kek, which resulted in him leaving the Facebook group. Today, one can still see copypastas pop up in the New Cult of Kek group from time to time.

Group member Ibrahim Hanif made a meme urging group members to comment "Supreme Gentleman Hong Shen" to get rid of cuckoldry.

The name stuck and was used in several memes after.

Shannon Kearns posted in the Cult of Kek responding to the group's curiosity about her.

Kearns stated that Hong Shen has been stalking her for several years and explains that he is extremely obsessed with her to the point where he needed to go to a mental ward.

Shen would walk in unannounced into her work, school, and home.

He blackmailed Kearns into seeing him, going so far to threaten to harm himself if he did not.

Kearns said that Shen is manipulative and creepy.

Kearns also clarified that her boyfriend is not a drug dealer.
