Hollis Alvin James Reid Daniels is an American college student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Early Life
Hollis Daniels was born Hollis Alvin James Reid Daniels to parents Daniels H. A. "Danny" Daniels and his wife, Janis Turk Daniels at Guadalupe Valley Hospital in Seguin, Texas on July 23, 1998. His father Danny Daniels was a Seguin City Councilman. Hollis's mother Janis is a well known travel photographer and writer who has appeared in travel segments of CNN's airport network. Her work has also appeared in multiple websites and regional publications in Texas including the Houston Chronicle and the Dallas Morning News. Hollis is known by his family as "Reid". He has a sister, Carrie Daniels who is 10 years older than him.
Hollis Daniels paternal grandparents H.A. “Windy” Daniels and wife Maxie owned a chain of movie theatres under their company Seguin Theatres Inc. The couple had been in the business for more than 50 years and owned multiple theatres including the Palace Theatre, The Texas Theatre, the Dixie-Drive Inn, and others across South Texas.
Education
Hollis Daniels studied Communication Arts- Radio, TV, Mass Media Studies at Texas Tech University. He graduated from Seguin High School (Seguin, Texas) in 2016. He previously attended New Braunfels Christian Academy in New Braunfels, Texas.
Political Views
Hollis Daniels like the Facebook pages of Democratic Party politicians Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama. However he also liked the Facebook page Proud to be an American, a conservative media and news website.
Shooting

On October 9, 2017, Daniels shot and killed a Texas Tech police officer, identified as Floyd East Jr., at Texas Tech Police Headquarters. The incident happened at around 8:00p.m. local time at the Texas Tech Police building at 413 Flint Avenue.
Officials said the student was brought inside the Texas Tech Police Department after being found with "evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia" during a welfare check.
Once at the PD building, Daniels pulled a gun and shot the officer, killing him.

After committing the shooting, Hollis Daniels fled in a silver 2001 BMW X5 (E53) SUV. He was later captured on the east side of the Jones AT&T Stadium. After 9:30 p.m., Lubbock Police spokeswoman Kasie Whitley confirmed Daniels had been taken into police custody.
Criminal Record
On September 23, 2016 Hollis Daniels was arrested for possession of marijuana under 2 ounces and possession of drug paraphenalia. The arrest was made by the Texas Tech Police Department in Lubbock County, Texas at 9:29 p.m.
On August 6, 2017 Hollis Daniels was arrested capias pro fine after he failed to pay a ticket he was issued for speeding 10% above the posted speed limit in Guadalupe County, Texas.
Legal Proceedings
On October 10, 2017, Daniels was charged with capital murder of a peace officer.
