Herchell Carrasco
Herchell Carrasco (born September 4, 1987) is a tattoo artist based out of Orange County, California. He is the owner of Pachuco Tattoo and has inked many athletes and musicians including Teka$hi69, Lil Baby, BlueFace, Lonzo Ball, Trill Sammy and more.[11][16]
Early Life and Career
Herchell grew up in Anaheim, California. His uncle was a tattoo artist, often inking out of Carrasco's mother's home. This left a big impression on Herchell:[21]
“I've always been an artist, but seeing my uncle do Chicano-style tattoos, I started drawing Day of the Dead stuff and Chicano style women when I was young.
I was born and raised in the OC lowrider scene, going to swap meets and barbecues and all that.”
In 2009 Herchell was tattooing his friends in his kitchen.
He would records these tattoo sessions and post them online, building an impressive catalogue and following.
After being discovered on Youtube, Carrasco landed a gig at the West Coast Ink tattoo parlor in 2010. Shortly after, in 2011, Herchell opened his own shop Pachuco Tattoo, located in Orange, California.
Carrasco is also the only person to have tattooed inside Disneyland, on the down low, in 2018. Carrasco posted the video on Social media.[23] Carrasco has also appeared in Trill Sammy's music video for "Do Not Disturb."[32]
Aaron Carter Face Tattoo
In late September of 2019, Herchell Carrasco was commissioned by Aaron Carter to ink a torso tattoo at the celebrity's home. Aaron mentioned Herchell's previous face tattoo work for rappers like Teka$hi69, leading to the idea of a Medusa face tattoo. Carrasco stated Aaron wanted the tattoo in the middle of his face, but was talked into getting it on the side of his face instead. Herchell said Carter was just smoking marijuana and cigarettes during the time he was there and didn't see him doing any other drugs,[35]
"Before I tattoo anyone, I take into consideration their mental state... in Aaron’s case, I assessed the situation and I genuinely felt he was in a good place mentally to get tattooed."
After adding the Medusa, he also added 'Love' and a crescent moon tattooed on his face. When Carrasco said he was finished with the job, he claimed Aaron Carter wanted more work done,
"[Carter] wanted to keep going and I had to stop him.
I couldn't cover his whole face in a tattoo.
I just couldn't."
