Heather O'Rourke (Reporter) is an award winning American Journalist and news reporter. She currently works as a Traffic Anchor on 'Eyewitness News' show WABC-TV in New York City. [1]
Early Life & Education
Heather O'Rourke was born and raised in Bergen County, New Jersey. She is a Graduate of Rutgers University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Media. She completed post graduation in Master of Arts from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education in 2018 [2]
Career
Heather is vastly experienced TV&Radio Personality.
She handled many stations in Tri-state area area in her long career so far.
Heather started her professional career as a journalist on Metro Traffic in New York City in 1992.
She used to gather and write traffic reports for a small staff of reporters.
She also worked as on air reporter and supplied reports to various radio channels.
She worked there part time for 7 years and gained huge experience in Traffic & Weather reporting.
In 1995, She joined Total Traffic & Weather Network as an Assistant Director of Operations.[4] She worked as a bridge between Directors or operations and the rest of the mangers, program directors, on air staff on affiliate stations.
She helped them to grow their network of 18 radio & 3 TV stations(1996) to 40 radio & 9 TV stations in a span of just three years.
She had a short stay at WAXQ - FM Radio between 1999-2000 in the Greater New York Area. She worked as a On Air show host and performed 7 hours overnight show on the radio channel, Q 103.4FM.[2]
She worked as a News Anchor and standby host for the famous Morning show, "The Show with Scott & Todd" whenever required. She created, wrote and anchored a show between 1997-2003.
She moved to Westwood One news service in 1999 and worked there as a Traffic Anchor for 12 years. She has written, anchored traffic reports for various New York radio channels & shows like The Sean Hannity Show, Curtis & Kuby, Radio Allen Show, WABC-AM770, WPLJ -FM, WAXQ-FM, WABC-TV, & WCBS-TV. She became a part of Eyewitness News in 2002 as the afternoon traffic reporter. In 2013, She finally started working as News Anchor on New York's number morning news show. She has shown great skills in writing, creating, editing and also producing 25 one -minute reports within 2.5 hrs on a constructive map sequence. She covers breaking news as well on that segment. Personal Life
Heather is married and lives in the Garden State(New Jersey) with her husband, two children and their pets. She is actively involved in many charities in her state. Awards
Heather won Best Traffic Reporter Achievement Award in Radio in 2011. She was nominated four times for the award.
Heather received The George Hammell Cook Distinguished Alumni Award from Cook College - Rutgers University in 2012.
