[-1]Harshit Kumar Verma is a professional cricket player (wicket-keeper).He

is a wicket-keeper batsman and hails from the Nawabi city of Lucknow, Uttarpradesh, India. His

first name Harshit, means "Joyful".

In 2012, he was selected for the Men’s Under 17 Cricket Tournament at Malaysia.

Later, he made his international appearance in a T-20 series against Nepal in 2016.

Early life and background

His father’s name is Prem Chand Verma and his mother’s name is Roopa Verma.

His family moved in the 1995 from Sitapur to Lucknow in U.P. being earlier lived in Bareilley, Pratapgarh and Barabanki.

He has 1 younger brother and 2 elder sister,Priyash Verma and Amrita Verma,Priya Verma and Pragati Verma as younger sister.

His paternal village Hata is in the Sitapur District of U.P.

He completed his schooling at Nirmala Convent Inter College, Lucknow, U.P. in the past.

Though there was no competitive level cricket at his school due to lack of facilities, he had to make his cricketing chances otherwise.

Sachin Tendulkar & MS Dhoni are his cricketing role models.

During his school time,he used to play football & volleyball due to lack of facilities for cricket.

Playing Style

He is a right- hand middle order batsman and wicket-keeper.He

tends to play mostly with a pronounced bottom hand grip. He

has a very high bat speed through the ball which often results in the ball racing across the ground. He

likes to play backfoot forcing shot towards deep mid-wicket.

Early Career

In the year 2009 he started his professional training at LDA Sports club in Lucknow,U.P.

During that period he nurtured his basic skills and learned different aspects of cricket.

He made his first appearance in competitive cricket at U-14 level.From

there his journey towards professional Cricket thereby started.

2012 Tour of Malaysia

A wicket-keeper batsman Harshit Verma made his first international appearance in 2012-13 season.

He was selected for 8 a nation International series at Malaysia and was included in the U-17 squad the following year.

The series included U-17 teams from Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kenya, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia. Though India could not make it to the finals and was placed third position. Sri Lanka won the final by 4 wickets beating Hong Kong.

INDO -SRILANKA International Cricket Camp

He was picked up for the U-19 Camp in 2012-13 season.

The famous Srilankan Coach Santha Karunaratne concluded the camp.

Later, that year he was then picked up for the Sri Lanka series in 2012-13.

2014 Tour of Pune(India)

In 2014, he got a chance to play for the VCA Cup,a tournament recognised by the Mumbai Cricket Association.

In the final game against VCA XI Harshit Verma scored 35 runs of 30 balls with the help of 6 fours helping his team to chase the target of 176 but his fruitful innings couldn't do a lot and VCA privilege lost the game by a margin of 21 runs.

Former India Captain & BCCI Chairman of Selectors Dilip Vengsarkar made his auspicious presence at the event.

Achievements

  • He had been announced outstanding wicketkeeper & batsman by Great Cricket Steps,Srilanka in 2012.

  • Participated in prestigious Avinash Chandra Memorial Inter School Cricket Championship in the past.

  • Has made successful representation in various national & international competitions.

  • Participated in Play for Kings Cup of Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

  • Also,participated in Inter-Collegiate/University level competitions.
