Gynnya McMillen

Gynnya McMillen was a 16 year old girl from Kentucky.

On January 11, 2016 she passed away while staying the night at Lincoln Village Detention Center.

Prior to her death,McMillen was brought to the ground by staffers using an "aikido restraint" and held there for four minutes and 15 seconds as a pat down was conducted.

An investigation was ensued following her death which led to an employee and former state Juvenile Justice Department commissioner Bob Hayter to be fired.

Staffers were also place on leave.

Investigators found that dozens of checks were missed that night while she was in detention.

According to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner, she passed away from a rare genetic disorder of irregular heartbeat and died in her sleep.
