Grant Nelson was a 34 year-old resident of Wilmette in the state of Illinois who worked as a professional server and an Uber and Lyft driver. ^[8]

Grant was born and raised in the state of Illinois in the town of Wilmette. He attended New Trier High School. ^[8]

He was remembered as being incredibly nice person by one of his restaurant friends who he worked with for many years.

He was one of the most celebrated staff members at his job for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises.

In some of his Facebook posts he would often be highly critical of the government and the Donald Trump Presidency. ^[8]

After graduation High School, he attended and graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder. ^[8]

Grant worked as a server for Lettuce Entertain You, which has more than 90 restaurants under its name. He was also a driver for Uber and Lyft. ^[0]

On the early hours of Tuesday, May 30th, 2017, at around 3:00 a.m., Grant was transporting the suspect, identified as Eliza Wasni, in his car through Uber. Wasni stabbed Grant on an intersection. The suspect took off and left Grant inside the car to be found by Police after being called to the scene. ^[0]

Grant was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was pronounced dead.

Grant was a random victim and had no connection to Wasni.
