Early Life
Gina Benitez was born and raised in a Pembroke Pines city in Florida.
Education
Gina completed schooling from Charles W. Flanagan High School in her hometown. She is a graduate of Florida State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature in 2011. She has achieved good levels in Spanish languages as well.[2]
Career
Gina has traveled to many places from Texas to North Carolina since her graduation in 2011.
Gina started her career at KRBC-TV, Abilene, Texas. She worked as an all rounder and she wrote, edited and also produced whole weekend newscasts which she anchored on weekends. She also produced unique story ideas daily.
She worked in Texas for 2 years before joining WOFL-TV (FOX35) in Orlando, Florida as a General Assignment Reporter in 2014. She grabbed the opportunity to expand her domain and covered many interesting news from rocket launches to high profile trials. She was among the first reporters who covered the Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016. That incident changed her perspective towards life.[4]
She moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, to join WRAL-TV in 2017. She served there as a weekend anchor covered many interesting stories. She also covered the story of Largest Fire in Decades in Raleigh city for which, she received two Emmy Nominations in 2017.[17]
