On April 14, 2018, Wright was allegedly shot and killed by Kalvin in apparent murder suicide at their apartment.

The incident was at the Sugar Mill Apartment Homes in the 800 block of Walther Boulevard.

Gwinnett police responded to the apartment complex shortly after 9:30 a.m. after receiving a call from the leasing office that three young children, all of whom are under the age of 10, had been dropped off at the office.

The children informed the staff there that their mother had been shot by their father.
