Gaz Oakley (born August 8, 1992) is a chef. He is known for his healthy and vegan cuisine.

Oakley learned to cook at a very young age with his dad, Doug.

He played rugby, football, did athletics and swam to a very high standard throughout school.^[4]

Gaz, wanting to learn about cooking even more, got his first part time chef’s job at age 15 at a local hotel restaurant.

He had a goal to be the youngest chef in the country with a Michelin star.

At 16, shortly after completing his GCSE’s, Gaz left school to go full time at the hotel restaurant.^[4]

After a few years at the hotel, he received the job at a renowned Cardiff restaurant called Le Gallois. There he worked over 80 hours a week. Over the next couple of years Oakley worked in other kitchens and later started designing menus for restaurants and doing dinner parties.^[4]

Later, Oakley changed his job into being a sales manager and even won salesman of the year at 23.

In May 2016, Gaz left his sales job and decided to devote all of his time to cooking.^[4]

Currently, Gaz Oakley is a chef and Instagram star who is known for his Avant-Garde vegan cooking. He is known for posting a mix of recipes, final products, and process shots of his cooking which he shares with his over 369,000 Instagram followers. His Youtube amassed 784,000 subscribers as of November 2019.^[1][2][3]

From the small amounts he’d seen on social media, Gaz started feeling guilty every time he was eating meat or dairy, he recalls one day simply having enough and deciding to sit down and watch the Gary Yourofsky speech:

Gaz wanting to do his bit of activism, started trying to persuade his friends and colleagues to go vegan.

Then he started his Instagram with the hope of spreading his activism through food to a wider audience. ^[4]
