Gabby Beas was a 17-year-old from Salinas, California.

^[0]She attended Everett Alvarez High School and was finishing up her studies at La Puenta.

Gabby was deaf in one ear.

On the morning of October 25, 2016, while Gabby and her cousin were walking at a crosswalk, a motorcycle went through a red light at 90 MPH and struck Gabby, killing her on impact.

Although the cousin saw the motorcycle, Gabby did not.

Gabby was pronounced dead on her way to the hospital.

^[2]The man driving the motorcycle, Andrew Bennett, plead not guilty to reckless driving causing death, vehicular manslaughter, and hit-and-run.
