Personal Life
Toheeb Adedokun aka Nylon Boy was born in 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria. There is currently no information on his family, education and background.
When asked in an interview to say a little more about himself he said:
“My name is Toheeb Adedokun.
I am 21 years old.
I don’t’ want to talk about my education but I am currently a student.”
Before his public attention, Toheeb said,
“I have always been in school because in my family, even if you are doing comedy, you have to go to school.
So I have no time for any other thing than this online comedy and my studies.”
When asked why he chose comedy, he said,
“There will always be one thing I can do better.
But I know my way is entertainment because when you are doing something and you are seeing progress, even though it’s slow, it shows it’s still your thing.
I have rapped before, been a dancer before, then comedy did it for me”
He was also asked how his friends and family accepted his career, he said:
“My dad complains whenever he sees images of my work where I am almost naked.
My mom on the other hand supports me 100% and my friends are cool with it.”
He faces crowds by making his mother and siblings laugh, they are his first crowd and it makes it easier for him to face larger crowds.
He said comedy has changed him, he said,
“Yes.
At least I am eating three square meals now.
I pay my bills and I am comfortable a bit but I know the best is yet to come.
”
His relationship status is unknown as he keeps his love life really hidden, and there is no information on his past love interests.
Career
Funny Toheeb started his career when he recreated a picture of Wizkid wearing a D&G mask; he did the same pose but wore a nylon on his face. He was only joking around but the picture became so viral that Wizkid even reposted it on his Instagram story.
From that moment on, he began recreating styles of different celebrities like Cardi B, Toke Makinwa, Yemi Alade, Davido, Laura Ikeji and so many others.
He has also been featured on BBC Africa and they described his talent saying
“The man uses noodles, plastics, bottles and even peanuts to create famous celebrity looks.”
He gets help from his friend B.O., who he said is a photographer, stylist and creative Art student.
He has over 26k followers on his Instagram“@funnytoheeb”, he gets little money from the ads he does on his page. Though he hasn’t gotten any other benefits from his brand he believes the best is yet to come.
When asked in an interview how he stands out amidst competition he said,
“Sometimes to make it funny, I have to go semi-nude and crazy.
That is what makes me stand out.”
He was also asked if celebrities thought he was throwing a shade by recreating their styles, he said,
“They (Celebrities) tend to find it funny.
None of them have seen it and dropped a harsh comment or said anything bad so far except the work of Chika Lann I did.
I believe she saw the picture even though she never commented or re-posted it.
She probably didn’t like it.
”
Controversy
Anti-fans have been going on about Funny Toheeb copying Mummy Ndioha, another Instagram star known for recreating celebrities styles.
He dismissed these claims saying,
“No, it is not true.
I used to follow Mummy Ndioha on Instagram but I didn’t start because of her.
Neither did I copy her.
Moreover, Mummy Ndioha cannot go to certain lengths like I do.
Sometimes, I go naked for my photoshoot.
I haven’t seen anyone do that online.”
