Five Finger Posse

Five Finger Posse

Five Finger Posse is an underground collective of artists in Philadelphia, consisting of Yung Mojo, Morgue!, Alvin Abyss, Sub9k, and the creator of the group, 5G. Each artist has their own respective discography, however, the Posse also releases music as a whole. They have worked with other talents such as Forza, F1lthy, WiFiGawd, DP Beats, Lil Tracy, and more. Also, they have recently been featured for an interview on the No Jumper Podcast. [1][2]

Biography

The artists; Yung Mojo, Morgue!, Sub9k, Alvin Abyss and 5G, that emerge as the group known as Five Finger Posse all based out of Philadelphia, PA. They began recording and distributing their music outside of solo endeavors about year or two ago. During their brief uprising, they have collaborated with artists such as WiFiGawd to the incredible production group Working on Dying, who are also Philadelphia natives. Five Finger Posse is a group of soul selling, pentagram toting rappers who make it sound as authentic as ever.

Five Finger Posse may take a different route than classic Philly standards, these guys are just as serious. Delving into the sub-genre known as “tread”, fathered by producer F1lthy, it has become a very prominent, online movement. Often compared to early New Orleans bounce music, tread has become increasingly popular with rappers such as Black Kray, CHXPO, and Five Finger Posse on the forefront.[7]

Career

In 2016, the group released two projects together, the first being “The Bitter End” (released on 23 April 2016) and the second, released only four months after, is “Trapped in the Trenches” (released on 13 July 2016). Both tapes feature production from close collaborators Working on Dying and display the talent that is erupting out of Philadelphia.[6][7][8]

The group came back powerfully in 2018, released their third tape titled "Behind Enemy Lines", which is a 14 track project that consists of bare minimal features from the likes of Tripp Jones and Rip Eternal. They show why 2018 will be an even bigger year for them keeping that team chemistry at an all time high, with the help of some of the classiest producers; W.O.D (Oogiemane & Forza), DP Beats, Sadbalmain, Tony Seltzer, BMB Loko Los, BMB Evil Haze and more bringing the heat and raising the bar throughout the project. [9]

On 28 February 2020, the group released their latest tape; 5th Season.

The projects is a 15 tracks tape showing clearly that the group are ever working and are still relevant in the genre.

Five Finger Posse can be regarded as one of the most solid, DIY group of artists since Odd Future. They've shown their cleverness over the years with their different, trap talk and mixing it with satanic themes over slower, bass heavy production filled with more drums than synths. While the group is not as exuberant as a young Tyler, The Creator, they stay effective by masking these themes in between everyday routines and procedures. Therefore, instead of the satanic themes becoming the domineering context over their projects, they may just simply know a girl who has been practicing witchcraft; gifting their music with ideas of subtlety and realism.

Social Media

Five Finger Posse has a YouTube channel and an active Instagram page with 4.14k subscribers and 5955 followers respectively.[3][4]
