Fernando Vargas Jr. (born November 8, 1996 Oxnard, California) is a professional boxer.[14]

Amateur Career

Vargas Jr. had an amateur boxing record of 36-4.

He boxes in the southpaw stance and has the reputation of being a hard puncher.

He is trained by his father in the professional ranks out of Vargas Sr.'s Las Vegas based gym, the Fernando Vargas Fighting Foundation. He started boxing at the age of 17.

He lost a very controversial semi-final bout at the 2019 United States Olympic Trial Qualifiers.

Many of his amateur matches were sanctioned by USA Boxing. Vargas Sr was a two-time junior middleweight world champion, having held the International Boxing Federation world title from 1998 to 2000 and the WBA world title from 2001 to 2002. With his IBF title win over Yori Boy Campas he became the youngest boxer in history to win a junior middleweight world title.[10]

Fernando ‘El Feroz’ Vargas Jr. is first born son of the legendary three-time junior middleweight world champion Fernando Vargas Sr. He made his highly anticipated professional boxing debut against Pablo Rosas on December 18, 2020 at Grupo Sipse TV Studios in Mérida, Mexico.

The four-round middleweight bout was featured on the Mario Abraham MAX Boxing Promotions card and was broadcast on ESPN Knockout in a behind closed doors setting due to the Coronavirus pandemic.[15]

Rosas retired in his corner at the end of the second round.

Vargas Jr. ko'd Salome Torres Flores at the the weight of 157 pounds on March 4, 2021.

As of July 2022 he has a pro record of 6 wins and 0 losses ( 6 ko's).

He tko'd Jorge Miguel Zavala in the second round on May 1, 2021 in Mexico.[12] Vargas Jr. tko'd Abel Luna Villalba on July 23, 2021.

Vargas Jr. tko'd Kody Koboski at the Michelob Ultra Arena on February 5, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He has improved his skill level by sparring numerous world champions including Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Yordenis Ugas and Rances Barthelemy.[8]
