Erica Smegielski is a grassroots activist who advocates in favor for gun safety.

Although she was not involved in politics previously, she became heavily active after her mother, Dawn Hochsprung who was principal of Sandy Hook, was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting.

Erica was raised in Naugatuck, Connecticut and raised by a single mother as she worked her way through college.

She worked in the past at a call center for Verizon and as a admissions counselor for Post University.
