Ephren W. Taylor II is a video game developer.
He drew headlines as a teenager, when a video game he had built made him a millionaire.
Early Life
Taylor was born in Gibson, Mississippi, in 1982. His family subsequently moved to Decatur, Alabama, and lived for short periods in Georgia, Massachusetts, and Florida before settling in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1993. His father was an electrical engineer at a nuclear power plant who in later years became a minister of the Church of Christ. His mother stayed at home with the children.
Career
In 2007, The Michigan Chronicle named Taylor one of the 10 people making a global difference.
He began making 3D video games at age 12.
In 1999, Taylor and high-school classmate Michael Stahl used $500 in savings to create a job-search Web site called 4Teens Network, later renamed GoFerretGo.com, which gave high-school and college students access to job listings from employers like Wal-Mart, Target, and Citigroup.
The site attracted some 30,000 registered users and was able to charge employers a fee for listing jobs.
Taylor and Stahl's business grew to a value of $3.125 million by 2001.
His first book, Creating Success from the Inside Out, is published by the world number one business publisher, Wiley and is an Amazon and CEO Read best seller.
Ponzi Scheme
In 2012, Taylor was accused of operating a Ponzi scheme in convincing folks to invest in North Carolina-based real estate venture City Capital Corporation.
