Awara was a project coordinator of Belemaoil Producing Limited from 2010- 2011, an oil firm based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. From 2011 -2013, he worked as a Health Safety Environment official in Shell Petroleum Company Limited, Nigeria. From 2013 - 2018 Awara worked as a maintenance staff of Prime Atlantic Cegelec (PACE), an engineering company based in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. 
Awara was the Governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), a political party that contested the 2019 governorship election, in Rivers State, Nigeria. Awara as an African Action Congress candidate was supported by All Progressive Congress (APC) during the election because APC was excluded from the 2019 governorship election because of a supreme court ruling against the party.
