Emoni James-Wayne Bates is an American teenager currently in the 8th grade who has become a Basketball phenomenon, a top recruit for a number of schools, and a "coveted prospect", all around the country. ^{[0] [18]}

Born at the University of Michigan hospital weighing 6 pounds, 7 ounces and 21 inches tall to parents E.J. and Edith. ^[2]Since he was a baby, he slept with a black and red basketball he cradled around his arm. Emoni is from the area of Ypsilanti. He now lives in Superior Township, Michigan. ^[18]

Ever since he was a baby, he slept with a basketball by his side.

^[2]He received training by his father at a young age and the two have since developed a pupil and

coach/master relationship in the world of Basketball.

At the age of 13, he stands at 6'7".

His father puts him through rugged strength and conditioning drills twice each week, along with three basketball-only sessions.

They practice at Lincoln High School in nearby Ypsilanti.

He’s one of the most highly touted players in the Class of 2022 and one of three already promised a scholarship by DePaul University in Chicago.
