Emma McILroy
Emma McILroy is the creator, founder and the CEO of Wildfang. [1] She was a former Nike executive.
Background
A native of Larne, Northern Ireland, she became a fierce active member of the olympic youth camp. She received international honors for Ireland in hockey and athletics. She also published for science and sports journals while also coaching and tutoring in both sports and academia. [1]
She has been involved in media working for TV and radio.
Education
She attended Larne Grammar School growing up in Larne county in Northern Ireland.
Career
She worked as a Marketing specialist for Barclays bank. She later worked as the associate Brand manager for Nike while in living in the United Kingdom. After working for the company for some time in the UK, she was transferred to Nike headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
While she visited a Urban Outfitters, she noticed that there weren't many clothes made that fit her style which leaned more toward the tomboy style. She decided to take it all the way and begin a clothing company with her friend. The owners took out their 401k, savings, and equity in their house in order to build their first website and buy their first collection. They were able to raise $650k from a group different groups of people, including their family.
