Emily Badger's first job was as an agate clerk in the sports department of the Chicago Tribune during her last year of high school. She began her journalism career in the exciting world of sports. Interning for The Washington Post sports section and writing for The Orlando Sentinel. After 5 years of covering sweaty athletes Emily decided to switch up her career path. She moved to Paris, studied French and started freelancing for a long list of sites. She eventually planted herself at The Atlantic Cities blog in 2013. Personal Life

Emily grew up in Chicago but she has also lived in Portland, Cleveland, Orlando, Tallahassee, Paris, Norfolk and Atlanta. She's passionate about hiking and still wants to visit Mount Rainier, Denali, Acadia, Zion and more national parks. She has two cats named after Louis Jordan’s "Beans and Cornbread". [10]
