About Emilie Pine
Emilie Pine is Associate Professor in Modern Drama at UCD, and is author of the No.1 bestseller Notes to Self (Tramp Press).
Emilie joined the School of English, Drama and Film in the spring of 2008. She teaches and supervises student work in the fields of theatre and memory cultures. Emilie is Director of the Irish Memory Studies Research Network and Editor of the Irish University Review and recently edited the Special Issue on Moving Memory: The Dynamics of the Past in Irish Culture. She is PI of the IRC New Horizons major project Industrial Memories, a digital witnessing of the 2009 Report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse (Ryan Report).
Emilie has published widely in the fields of theatre and memory studies, including The Politics of Irish Memory: Performing Remembrance in Contemporary Irish Culture, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
Her forthcoming book is on the dynamics of witnessing memory and trauma in contemporary international theatre (forthcoming, Indiana University Press).
Emilie is a member of the Advisory Board of the international Memory Studies Association and is convenor of the Memory Cloud Project.

Research Interest
Emilie Pine's main Research interests are in the interdisciplinary study of modern Irish Culture, with a specific focus on witnessing, memory and trauma studies, theatre and film. Her book, The Politics of Irish Memory: Performing Remembrance in Contemporary Irish Culture is published by Palgrave Macmillan. Her forthcoming book is on the dynamics of witnessing memory and pain in contemporary international theatre (forthcoming, Indiana University Press).
Emilie is PI of the major IRC New Horizons Project (2015-18) Industrial Memories, a digital re-reading of the 2009 Report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse (https://industrialmemories.ucd.ie).
Emilie is Editor of the Irish University Review and recently edited the Special Issue on Moving Memory: The Dynamics of the Past in Irish Culture.
Emilie is founding Director of the Irish Memory Studies Research Network (, funded by the Irish Research Council and supported by UCD Humanities Institute.
She is Series Editor of 'Gender and Commemoration', UCD Scholarcast Series 8.
Emilie is a member of the Advisory Board of the international Memory Studies Association and is convenor of the Memory Cloud Project.
Emilie was a member of the Management Committee of COST Action 1203 In Search of Transcultural Memory in Europe and on the Steering Committee for the 1916: Home: 2016 project to commemorate Irish Magdalene history.
In 2018 Emilie published her first collection of personal essays, the No.1 bestseller Notes to Self (Tramp Press).
