Ellis Pinsky

Ellis Pinsky

Ellis Pinsky (born in 2002) also known as Baby Al Capone, is a high school student and technology enthusiast from Irvington, New York, United States. Ellis made the news when he was investigated for his alleged inolvement with a $23.8 million dollar cryptocurrency theft.

Overview

Personal Life

Ellis Pinsky grew up in Irvington, New York in a $1,300,000 home with his family. He enjoys sports and used to run track and play soccer. Pinsky is also a huge video game fan and is fond of Counter-Strike and Call of Duty. His mother is a NYU Langone Medical Center physician.

When he was only 15 years old he was allegedly involved in a criminal ring that stole $23.8 million from serial entrepreneur Michael Terpin's account. At 18 years old he is facing legal trouble.

People who didn't know about Pinsky's alleged criminal activity viewed him as a cryptocurrency wunderkind. Even his best friend thought he was making money from trading Bitcoin.

Alleged Crime

In January 2018, half a dozen computer hackers spread out across Europe and the United States allegedly working together to steal $23.8 million from Michael Terpin.

Ellis Pinsky was specifically named as the ringleader of the heist.

Papers were filed May 7 in Manhattan Federal Court and the suit is asking for 3 times the damages, $71.4 million.

Acquaintances feel that he began letting the power get to his head, recounting times he's said things like “I could buy you and all your family.

I have 100 million dollars.”

The complaint alleges that in December of 2017, an accomplice saw “records indicating that Ellis had $70 million.”

The lawsuit against Pinsky

Pinsky and 20 other are being sued by Michael Terpin for $71.4 million in damages, according to figures in the legal documents. They've been labeled as “20 John Does”. Michel Terpin wrote in his complaint:

“Pinsky and his other cohorts are in fact evil computer geniuses with sociopathic traits who heartlessly ruin their innocent victims’ lives and gleefully boast of their multimillion-dollar heists,”

The complaint accuses Pinksy of stealing data from him and others with a “SIM swap” technique.

It involves accessing online accounts by tricking mobile phone carriers into transferring the victim’s phone number and data.

Because they let this happen, Terpin is also suing AT&T Mobility in Los Angeles for $240 million, his phone carrier at the time of the alleged hacking. AT&T filed a bid to dismiss the case based on user-agreement indemnities.

This isn't Terpin's first rodeo.

He won a civil judgment of $75.8 million in May 2019 against Nicholas Truglia, an associate of Pinksy's who is also facing criminal hacking charges in both California and New York.

Terpin's attorney, O’Donnell, contacted Ellis’ mother at her office and a lawyer returned the attorney’s call.

Not long afterwards, Pinsky sent $2 million in cryptocurrency along with a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch, worth over $100,000.

Terpin said that he waited until Ellis’ 18th birthday earlier so Pinsky would be an adult when he filed the suit.
