Elise Viebeck graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in political science and government.

Prior to joining The Washington Post in June 2015, she was a staff writer at The Hill. She was also a Page in 2005 for the U.S House of Representatives.

Viebeck married Andrew Caplan on December 27, 2015 at the Merchants Exchange Building.
