Wyatt Pearson, better known as Electric Mantis, is an electronic music producer based in Los Angeles, California. He is originally from Anchorage, Alaska. [undefined]
Early Life and Education
Pearson grew up in Anchorage and from a young age had an interest in music.
His father was in a local band and encouraged Pearson to pursue music throughout his life.
In elementary school, Pearson taught himself how to use GarageBand and later learned to play the trumpet and drums. During his teenage years, Pearson took a break from production and was involved in several different types of bands including jazz combos, latin bands, metal bands, and more. [undefined]
After high school, he moved to Eugene, Oregon to attend the University of Oregon and studied Biology. Around the same time, Pearson rediscovered GarageBand and his roommate introduced him to chiller, underground music. [undefined] In the middle of college, Pearson upgraded to Reason, a more advanced production program, in order to produce the sound he desired. Although he had a positive experience at school, Pearson spent more time focusing on music and eventually dropped out and moved to Portland to pursue his passion full-time. [undefined]

In 2013, Electric Mantis posted his track "Flips And Flops, Drips And Drops" to Reddit and the next day it went viral.
