On April 9th, 2017, an explosion went off in a Coptic Church located in the Nile River delta city of Tanta. The explosion occurred as Coptic Christians were celebrating Palm Sunday, one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar, marking the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. [1]
Egypt has a 10% Christian minority and have been a target of Islamic terrorists since the military took over the country in 2013.
[1] In December, a suicide bombing claimed by the ISIS group killed 29 worshippers during Sunday mass in Cairo.
Reports indicate the 21 people died and 38 people were wounded.
