Early Life
Career
In 2020, Eddie Benjamin makes a great first impression with “Fuck My Friends.” Co-produced with Dan Gleyzer, the 18-year-old’s major label debut single is as relatable as it is catchy. The lyrics speaks for themselves.
“Fuck my friends, I don’t want to feel anything,” the Aussie newcomer begins the song.
“Lost my face and I lost my brain, I don’t need their love.”
Instead he opts to go solo.
“Gonna have a party for one, blow my candle cause nobody comes,” Eddie sings over slinky beats.
“It’s just me turning up, have my cake and eat it.”
The track introduces his fiery, flashy, and funky style, and he personally played every instrument on the track, concocting the pulsating groove and steady beat, composing on guitar, keys, and bass. Meanwhile, his seismic vocal range takes center stage, leaping from breathy verses into a hypnotic chant. It all climaxes on one last mind-bending bass transmission.
Eddie has quietly become the ultimate “secret weapon” for some of the biggest superstars and powerhouses in the world as Diplo, Meghan Trainor, Ryan Tedder, Sia and Labrinth have all called on him to collaborate, entrusting him as a creative voice. He recently turned heads with Justin Bieber, who dubbed him “the next generation.”[6][7]
He performed to a stadium crowd of nearly 25,000 as part of the nationally televised School Spectacular and has collaborated with AJ Mitchell for a Christmas medley in December 2017.[2]
Personal Life
He’s been based in Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, California. In 2019, he began dating Maddie Ziegler, who is also an artist notable for dancing with crisps and flexibility, which is insanely visible in a series of music videos by Sia, including “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart”. At only thirteen years old, she created own world of dance. Thus, critics summoned Maddie as alien “sent from Planet Talented to make us mere mortals look really clumsy
