Dylan Payne (born October 31, 1993) is a resident of Denver, Colorado.

In May 2018 he was arrested for allegedly yelling homophobic slurs and stabbing a gay couple.

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018 Dylan Payne was arrested by the Denver Police Department for investigation of first-degree assault in the attack on two gay men who were stabbed with a folding knife outside nightclub / bar early Sunday morning.

Dylan Payne is being held in the stabbings of 19-year-old Christopher Huizar and his 23-year-old boyfriend Gabriel Roman, according to police and online descriptions of the assault.

The Denver Police Department is investigating whether the attack was bias-motivated.

The men told investigators they were holding hands as they walked home from The Church nightclub, 1160 Lincoln St., when they were attacked, Denver police spokesman Sgt. John White said.

The men ran and officers were called around 1 a.m. Sunday to help them at West 11th Avenue and Santa Fe Drive.

Both men were injured, but their wounds were not life-threatening, White said.

He said detectives were investigating whether the attack was connected to the men’s sexual orientation.

Huizar was stabbed once in the throat and Roman suffered several deep slashes in his back and hand.

On a GoFundMe post, Huizar said a white man yelled an expletive and a slur toward gay people as he ran behind them.

Huizar was stabbed in the neck, and his boyfriend was stabbed in the hand and back, according to the post.

“We were just holding hands, minding our business,” Huizar wrote.
