Background and education
He is the Owner/Chief Executive Officer of JOVANA Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain, and IEME LLC.[7]
He is also a current USAF Flight surgeon, at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He is a recipient of the US Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak leaf cluster, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with bronze hourglass.[7][12][15]
Dr. Edwards is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Aerospace Medical Association, the Military Officers Association of America, and the Society of USAF Flight Surgeons.[4]
Dr. Ivan Edwards attended Rivier University, graduating with a BS in Biology in 1999. He then completed medical school at Midwestern University, in Glendale, Arizona, in 2004. In 2005, he completed his Internal Medicine training at Eastern Virginia Medical School, in Norfolk, Virginia. He subsequently completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UTHSCSA in 2008. He thereafter completed extra specialized training at the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine to become a Flight Surgeon.[6][7][3]

He is a commissioned Kentucky colonel, in recognition of his service for the community, state, or nation.[14]
He is also an ordained minister.[10]
He worked as a Health & Wellness physician for the San Antonio Fire Department.[18]

He loves travel, sports, and reading.
He holds a black belt in Taekwondo, and also Japanese karate. He once owned a dojo. He speaks Ganda, Swahili and English.
