Achyut Apte belongs to Pune ,Maharasthra India.A virtuoso since childhood, Dr.Charudatt Apte completed most of his education in what is known as the "Oxford of the East" - Pune. He schooled at the Modern High School & College and thereafter joined the venerable Fergusson College. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from B. J. Medical College (B.J.M.C) in Pune University. He completed post graduation at the Christian Medical College at Vellore,Tamil Nadu,India in Neurosurgery.^[1] He is Married to ‎Dr. Jayashree Apte and have two children - Ketan Apte and famour Bollywood and Marathi Actress - Radhika Apte

Dr. Charudatt Apte foray into the world of medicine started with his completing MBBS following which, he went on to do his Masters in Surgery from the prestigious Christian Medical College & Hospital ,Vellore. At CMC, Vellore, he has had a brilliant career, and was awarded a gold medal for his post-graduation. Another feather in his cap was being awarded the Best Outgoing Student award from B.J.M.C,Pune (B.J.M.C. ) in 1976.. ^[1]

To his credit are several inventions that have lifted neurosurgery to a different paradigm.He has been the recipient of innumerable awards over the course of his career.^[2]

Dr. Charudutta Apte has made a lot of valuable contribution towards community social causes.

One of his major contributions was starting the “Samvedana” Charity fund in 2003 through which thousands of poor patients have benefited.^[5] He was also instrumental in starting the Senior Citizens Health Scheme in 2006 for two years.After that it had tie up with FESCOM for one year and for last two years Sakal Papers ltd.It is now called Sakal Sahyadri Suraksha Kawach under which specialty care was made affordable for senior citizens of Pune. Dr. Apte had taken up this initiative since he felt that there are a number of senior citizens who do not get insurance cover for medical treatment.^[3][2]

Sahyadri Hospital is Dr. Charudutta Apte’s brainchild, which he started to offer quality services to the people of the area at relatively economical prices. He is the Chairman & Managing Director of the hospital group, and it is recognized as the largest chain of hospitals in the state of Maharashtra. ^[4][7] Sahyadri Hosiptals is multi speciality Hospital and have branches across many cities in Maharastra.Head Branch is located at Deccan Gymkhana,Pune.^[8]
