Khan Jr. was ranked #2 by USA Boxing on January 8, 2020 at 123 pounds and has held numerous titles in the amateur ranks including winning the Silver Gloves Nationals twice. He had an amateur boxing record of 135 wins and 13 losses. He is originally from Buckeye, Arizona. At the age of eighteen he started training at the world famous Mayweather Boxing Club, which is located in the Chinatown section of Las Vegas, Nevada.
While training at the Mayweather Boxing Club he caught the attention of WBA junior lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis. While he was preparing for his championship bout against Leo Santa Cruz. the Davis’ camp invited Khan to return to the gym to spar.. Floyd Mayweather was at the club at the time and also took notice of the aggressive and effective style Khan possessed and advised him to make the move to Las Vegas to sign with his company.
