Deputy Daryl Smallwood is a Deputy for the Peach County Sheriff's Department. [1] He was previously employed by the Crisp County Sheriff's Department until November of 2015 after 5 years of service.
Personal Life
Deputy Daryl Smallwood is a motorcycle enthusiast and is a member of the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club, an organization which includes past and current members of Law enforcement. Smallwood lives in Cordele, Georgia, but is originally from Vienna, Georgia.
Shot in the Line of Duty
On November 6th, Smallwood and Sergeant Patrick Sondron answered a call near Byron, Georgia about a man threatening ATV riders with a handgun. As both officers walked up the man's driveway, he opened fire at both of them, killing Sondron while severely injuring Smallwood. The man later was identified as Ralph Elrod, he was wounded in an exchange with officers who responded to the shooting, and was taken into police custody. [1]
