Murder of Elizabeth Cullen
On August 17, 2016 Denis Cullen allegedly murdered his 63-year-old mother, Elizabeth Cullen after an argument over whether or not he should take his medication, by drowning her in the family's backyard pool. Her body was found around 2 p.m after police were called in to perform a welfare check. [0]
Denis Cullen is charged with second-degree murder for the killing.
The judge ordered the Dennis to be held on $5 million cash bail, or $8 million secured bond.
Police say Cullen Jr. told detectives he had an argument with his mother early Wednesday over not taking his medication.
He told them he forcibly dragged his mother to the deep end of the pool and held her head under water, according to detectives.
“He said she struggled violently and said he was surprised that a woman of her stature could struggle as much as she did.
He waited until she stopped moving and then carried the body out of the pool and placed it next to a shed and placed a dingy covering the body,” said Deputy Police Chief Homicide Bureau's Robert Biancavilla.
After the alleged murder, Cullen drove into the city and met his sister and confess to her.
He was arrested after he returned to the house.
