Early Life & Education
Deeksha was born and brought up in Mumbai.
Her father is a Punjabi and her mother is Marathi. Deeksha is also known as Deeksha Kanwal Sonalkar. She completed her schooling from Jasudben M. L. School and attended Sophia Women's College, Junior College after 10th. She studied at from R. D. National College and graduated with a Bachelor's Of Mass Media from University of Mumbai. She is trained in Indian classical dance form 'Odissi' under the guidance of her mother and Guru Rabindra Atibuddi. [1]
Career
Deeksha participated in various plays in her school and college days.
She realized her inclination towards acting in 10th when she played the part of 'Eliza Dolittle' in the play, "My Fair Lady" which was based on the book Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. She joined theatre groups in Mumbai thereafter, particularity 'Prithvi Theatres' and performed in many plays with them. She made small screen debut in the TV series, Bani – Ishq Da Kalma in 2013. She impressed audiences playing the character of 'Jassi Gill'. It was televised on Colors TV. She appeared in cameo roles in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap (2015), Agent Raghav - Crime Branch and Khwaabon Ki Zamin Par (2016) .
She has worked with the well known production houses in India.
In 2019, She appeared in another popular Indian soap opera My Name Ijj Lakhan (2019).[13] She made web series debut in 2020 in the Netflix web series 'Hasmukh'.[12] She is gaining a lot of popularity for the character of 'Rhea'. The series stars famous actors and comedians Vir Das and Ranvir Shorey in the lead roles.[2][3]
