Deedee Sun is an American journalist who works at KIRO 7 -TV in Greater Seattle Area, as a multimedia Journalist/reporter. Before joining KIRO 7, she worked as a multi-media journalist and weekend morning anchor at KWCH-DT in Wichita, KS (Kansas Area) for two years.[1][3]

Deedee was born on May 13, 1991, in Harbin, China. She later moved to Decatur, Illinois in United States where she grew up.

Deedee is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and she has a twin sister called Stephanie Giola.[4]

Deedee likes to keep her personal life private.

Although based on her relationship status, she is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Martin.

She likes to share pictures with her fiance on Instagram. Martin proposed to Deedee in Seattle, Washington in October 2019.

She currently lives in Seattle, WA, United States. [5]

Deedee Sun attended Maroa-Forsyth High School in the year 2005 to 2006 and Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy from 2006 to 2009 where she obtained high school diploma.

After completing high school, Deedee joined Boston University in 2009 to 2013 where she studied and graduated with (Cum Laude) Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics and (Magna Cum Laude) Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Broadcast Journalism.

Deedee Sun began her journalism career as Research Assistant at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, United States where she designed and completed research on mind processes during cognitive reading, organized and analyzed data using regression in Microsoft Excel l from August 2007 to May 2008. [6]

She worked as "Chronicle" Intern at WCVB-TV (ABC) in Boston, MA where she wrote anchor chitchat and updated show information for episode re-runs, managed Twitter account, researched story ideas, and assisted producers on shoots from May 2011 to August 2011.

Deedee worked as Executive Producer at butv10's Inside Boston (Inside Boston is butv10's only news-magazine program) in Boston University from September 2009 to May 2013 where they cover a wide scope of stories, ranging from politics, to consumer news, to art. She created rundown for each block of each episode using AP/ENPS, engaged news team in story pitch meetings and delegated stories into blocks, directed and operated switchboard and previously held positions as script writer & assignment editor.

She worked as Communications Liaison at TranSComm in Boston, MA in September 2010 to May 2013 where she conducted videography and video editing for the department, initiated revitalization of the TranSComm Newsletter as editor and contributor and developed consumer and supplier relations by assisting with transit inquiries.

Deedee worked as Newsroom Intern at ABC News/ KABC-TV in Greater Los Angeles Area, from June 2012 to September 2012 where she Conducted interviews for packages and VO/SOTs, Validated news content by contacting source institutions and Reinforced brand of the station by engaging with viewers.

She worked as Meredith-Cronkite Fellowship Recipient at KPHO - A Meredith Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona Area, in January 2013, she worked for only one month where she reported and produced a package with live shots; anchored news segment.

Deedee worked as a teaching assistant at Boston University while still studying at the University. She helped mentor and instruct students on how to use the Final Cut Pro X and videography technique and she also supported classroom curriculum by assisting professors with video and program demos from January 2013 to May 2013. Deedee worked as a reporter/on-air-intern at Boston Neighborhood Network News in Greater Boston Area from February to May 2013 where she reported on-air (community access cable television), covering local feature stories, scripted and anchored a bi-weekly segment and edited packages in nonlinear format with Final Cut Pro.

After leaving Boston, Deedee moved to Pennsylvania where she joined WICU 12 News located in Erie, Pennsylvania. She worked as a Multimedia-Journalist, Reporter and Fill-in Anchor at WICU. She engaged in all phases of news gathering and story development: shooting, writing, and editing, delivering compelling content through live shots multiple days per week, consistently covering breaking news and running solo live shots, posting stories online daily and interacting with viewers on social media and Anchoring and producing on a fill-in basis from July 2013 to July 2015.[7]

She also worked as a Multimedia Journalist and Weekend Morning News Anchor at KWCH-DT located in Wichita, KA (Kansas Area) from September 2015 to August 2017.

Deedee joined KIRO 7 -TV located in Seattle, WA in August 2017 and she is currently working as a Reporter/ Multi-media-Journalist there.

She is a journalist who believes local news can drive change for the better in communities.

That's why she pushes to find the stories that matter, and works hard to deliver content in a way that makes viewers care.

Health system revenues plummet: MultiCare furloughing 6,000 employees

TACOMA, Wash. — MultiCare Health System will be furloughing 6,000 employees amid plunging revenues because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other health care providers like Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Virginia Mason, and Sound Family Medicine have also taken furlough measures.

MultiCare runs eight hospitals and dozens of clinics across Washington.

They say from large hospitals like Tacoma General to their Indigo Urgent Care clinics, patient visits have plunged.[11]

Fred Meyer, QFC employees protest to keep hazard pay and for safer conditions

As of April, at least 30 grocery store workers across the country have died, with thousands more infected.

Fred Meyer and QFC employees protested in Burien and Bellingham, and outside other Kroger-owned stores up and down the West Coast on Friday.

Kroger, the parent company of those stores, started hazard pay – or what they called a “hero bonus" on March 29.

Workers got an extra $2 an hour.

But now it’s getting rid of that extra pay, starting Sunday.
